Arguably Mary Lattimore led the harp resurgence in alternative, contemporary music, but she's not the only one taking this most celestial of instruments in to bold new musical territory. Alina Bzhezhinska has also been blazing a trail this side of the Atlantic taking her classical and jazz chops around London, founding the HipHarpCollective and helping soundtrack international royalty. She's not messing about.

"Warm Days, Cold Nights" easies into existence with some deep, sculpted ambience to cushion Bzhezhinska as she abstractly teases her instrument, before it morphs into familiar yet minimal forms. Then out of the blue blue Berlin's dub techno sounds crash the party with their heavy, cavernous frequencies and Tubby indebted reverberations. A skitterning riddim then generously applauds woman and machines as they warm up for this electroacoustic soundclash.
Scene set the kick drum arrives to get the crowd swaying and heads nodding, welcome Bzhezhinska's spiritual approach and cheersthe less holy, dubbed out electronics. There's no turning back now and harp and synths lock horns, swirling through the speakers and becoming one; Bzhezhinska charting a higher path, as the low end frequencies and dubbed out electronica test your speaker system.
This is high grade, harp blessed dub techno that gives the genre a welcome acoustic injection and touch of celestial soul. Roll on the album, put July 11th in your diary.
