TAMTAM - Ramble In The Rainbow (PPU) [Psychedelic Soul]

Tokyo's TAMTAM are Kuro on Vocals and synthesizer, Affee Takahashi hitting the drums, Yuthke taking care of guitar and Haluna Ishigaki completing the rythym section on bass. They have roots in reggae and dub, but have gradually evolved into an innovative fusion outfit blending jazz, soul, new-age music, and exotica.

This new EP is a short, but oh so sweet, release from them for PPU. Sounding like it was recorded on a yacht in high summer with a light breeze blowing through their hair during a mild psilocybin enabled moment, the group effortless fuse dreamy soul with jazz licked, psychedelic 60s pop, radiating peace & love vibes to all lucky enough to be in ear shot.

2024年、TAMTAMは新作EP『Ramble In The Rainbow』を米レーベルPeoples Potential Unlimitedよりリリースする。初の海外リリースとなった本作は、かつてないほど幻想的な浮遊感に包まれ、またもジャンルのボーダーを超える存在感を放っている。

歌詞は極めてプライベートな出来事をきっかけに魂や死、自然といった大きく抽象的な概念を介した寓話のように綴られる。サウンド面ではSun Ra、Lee “Scratch” Perry、清水靖晃や鈴木良雄などが影響元に挙げられており、バンドの要となるグルーヴはそのままに更にドープになった演奏が印象的。以前からの持ち味であるレゲエやソウル、ジャズ的な要素に加えニューエイジ音楽的な発想が巧みに掛け合わされた、バンドの成熟を感じさせる怪作となっている。
