Rafters - Forza!

Rafters is a shadowy project, perhaps wisely so in this age of data scraping, digital fingerprinting and online profiling. He, and for some reason I presume it is a lone heterosexual male (discuss, but don't get me involved), prefers to lurk behind oddball or pixelated imagery and vague musical manifestos, and that's fine, although it leaves me struggling for content, so let's get straight to his latest single.

"Forza!" is an oddball, genre ambiguous tune that defies easy description, but I'll give it a go anyway. A baroque Americana refrain on both keys and strings drives the tune forward, looped within an inch of its life but never tiresome, aided and abetted by a bit of pleasantly micro-dosed and electronically manipulated electric guitar. It might have been enough on its own but there's some toe tapping oddball time signature percussion to assist it's journey as synthy strings add a bit of widescreen grandeur conjuring up images of cowboy films you'd forgotten about and then just as everything is in full swing some mid-Atlantic strumming joins the arrangement to really get the folks in the barn swinging.

It's some freaky folk fusion that sounds like loads of things and not much at all. It also sounds a lot better than my attempt to describe it, so give it a spin or two, you might like it as well.
