Known artistically and to her friends as néomí, she's been making waves in the folk and mainstream singer songwriter worlds for the last three years. Somebody's Daughter, her 2024 album, unashamedly aimed for the charts with a typical major label pop makeover, which unfortunately buried her character and charm somewhere in the recording studio. Her forthcoming album sees her wisely slipping free of Universal's tentacles and heading to the cosier but still big indie stables of Nettwerk, and if the first two singles are anything to go by wisely ditching the sonic make up which, with a voice so pretty, she certainly doesn't need.

Néomí sets a warm, pleasant acoustic tone with her accomplished finger picking before being joined by some gentle strings that hover shyly in the background. Scene set, she starts her tale of hopeless love, the microphone up close to intimately capture the emotion in this sweet but ultimately melancholic tale of affairs of the heart. As with all good love stories filled with sweetness and sadness, the strings rise to the occassion, accenctuating the emotion at just the right time without interfering with the pure and refreshingly honest vocals from the star of the show.
Here's hoping there's more of the same for October's album.
