Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys were formed way back in 2015 by the South African front woman, and are a dreamy alternative pop infused outfit who are getting noisier and edgier with age, and are well suited to the open minded musical atmosphere of their Berlin home. They've also got an album coming out in February next year, which is shaping up nicely.

Sometimes it's not what you say but how you say it. Kruger's hushed vocals get the ball rolling, but there's an uncompromising tone and serious intent to the soft edged delivery and you suspect you're going to be in for a treat, confirmed by the downtempo, post punkish dub bassline from Reuben Kemp that will sound great on a big rig at a live show and a classy string infusion from Jean-Louise Parker.
Scene set it's time for Kruger to wonder about life's contradictions in half sung, half spoken rhythmic fashion, effortlessly riding the downtempo, sway inducing riddim and providing a serious but sweet counterpoint to the guitar noise interjections and refrains that give the track a pleasing edge and intensity - Krugers voice effortlessly rising to the sonic challenge by dialling up her delivery when they arrive. And then it's over. Kruger and band drift off into the twilight zone of album anticipation, going full circle with the patient intro and encouraging use of the repeat button. I know I did.
