James Bright shouldn't need too much introduction to regular blog readers, I've covered various releases over the years, and not too long ago, his great Imaginal album, where he took a break from his previous Balearic-nouveau/modern chill-out exploits to boldly voyage into more ethereal and spiritul territory to great effect. Well he's not resting on his laurels, and whilst the dust is still settling on his album he's off on another trip, this time with his sights set firmly on a galaxy far, far away.
Machine abstraction starts by scanning the universe for the correct co-ordinates, as the synthesizer engines gradually start to warm up, wave after wave sweeping through the speakers to build up enough pressure for escape velocity. The journey is long and winding, initially soaring over a verdant planet, Commander Bright soaking up the glories of the natural world to nourish him for the emptyness to come. The next phase takes in the universe's natural wonders - imploding stars, huge gaseous exchanges, deserted planets and constellations so vast as to be unimiganble to most. The sense of wonder is evident and perfectly articulated by the sprawling ambient electronic arrangement that glides through the speakers, depositing it's sense of awe and wonder with it.
