The cover for Hot Springs', "To The Dogs" single, showing a couple in skeleton masks and wedding attire under an orange flower arch. Text reads "To the dogs" and "hot springs" with various symbols.

I've found just the tired muscle relaxing, brain cell reviving antidote to all your doom scrolling depression, gig economy uncertainty and rising property price ills. Her name is Rachel Rimmer, she's a Welsh singer, accomplished multi-instrumentalist and producer, currently living in the mad for music metropolis of Manchester and her project is aptly called Hot Springs. Apparently there have already been a few live shows with an evolving lineup of musicians from the city, so hopefully she's got a hard drive of new material to follow up the classy debut single, "To The Dogs" that you have before you.

Singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Rachel Rimmer aka Hot Springs sitting on a sofa, resting her head on her hand, in a cozy room with warm lighting. A guitar and plants are visible. Calm atmosphere.

Starting off in particularly mellow fashion her tight and gently twisted guitar refrain is helped through the speakers by some warm, soft touch percussion from Brendan Williams (though Rimmer can also play) and a distant spiritual sax line courtesy of William K.Z. - a warmly lit, jazz folk pathway towards the clear and true musings on the nature of time and connection, that float effortless over the instrumentation.

To be honest I'd have been quite happy if the song ended there, but hold tight for a final third finale as the crew suddenly change tack and rise off their studio stools to up the intensity and lament the Anthropocene and our current social demise in an alt-pop fashion. It's a hell of a debut single, I just hope there's a hard drive backup.
