Feorm are banger of things Brett Cooper, the guitar and bass alternating trio
Paul Corcoran, Andrew Lynch, Allan Murray, and synth and effects consultant Pete Warren. The project originated in 2010 when the five brought their diverse musical backgrounds to a disused farm building in East England, and it wasn't long before space-rock, stoner-blues, post-rock and kosmische sounds were echoing through the fields.
It's been a while since the low-gravity, lysergic post-rock joys of album II, but the nine years haven't been wasted, which is probably more than can be said for the lads, and their return sees them in eclectic rock form on this, their most ambitious album to date.
Album opener "Revinir" invites the listener aboard in classic, low-gravity psyche rock style and with a sly wink suggests you try the punch, which should put you in a good place to enjoy the funky lysergic blues of "Sprang Witch", which leads nicely to the more considered, gentle ambient post-rock strains of "Meltwater". But watch out for "The Field Radio", which leaps heavy guitars first through the speakers, before undulating between classic rock riffs and easier stoner rock vibes.
The album rollercoaster then continues through post-rock reflection, the hypnotic kosmische groove of "Spiral" - perhaps my pick of the bunch, the acid-ritualism of "Hypogean" and the cosmic wonder of "Dark Alignment". The group then set the controls for the heart of the sun on "Empire's End", a growling slice of intense space rock that should take care of your few remaining brain cells, and which probably sees out the new live show. Feorm certainly know their alt-rock history, put a nice spin on it and this new LP is quite the ride.
