Unsurprisingly for an artist who spent three years sailing around the world and who now lives in a camper van, Colin Manson's contemplative lyrics, which float over his time honed finger picking, emanate from his deep natural connections. If only more musicians were as environmentally attuned and extolling the virtues of our planetary life support system we might be in less of an anthropogenic mess.

A pleasing drone gets the ball rolling, the perfect intro and backdrop to Manson's warm, intricate acoustic guitar work and gently insistent refrains that set a classic folk course and immediately catch the song's sails to propel this tale of nautical wanderlust. Heads nodding Manson says hello; his affable tones instantly disarming, as he shares his passion for the oceans and endless horizons.
If that wasn't enough, his crew provide some low key, precision placed violin and stand up bass as the song sails through the speaker, further elevating this simple but satisfying tale of life on the ocean waves. If this one grabs you, and I'm sure it will, then make sure you check out the rest of this fine folk EP from this singer and songwriting up and comer and his well chosen accomplished ensemble.
