Martin Henrik Hasselgren aka Boy Omega is a versatile Swedish multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer who has been veering between folky singer songwriting, indie-pop pleasers, pumping dance pop and everything in between under the moniker for the last twenty years, racking up seven albums in the process, not to mention being involved in several other bands.
For this latest single he's teamed up with fellow Swede Jörgen Gustafsson, a new kid on the ambient block, who announced himself to the horizontal listening world to some acclaim in 2024 with his debut, A Darkened Harbour album.

Their debut single is an intriguing meeting of minds, and I have to say it's paid off handsomely. A whimsical, melancholy flirting synth and warm bass tones ease the listener in to the track, paving the way for some suitably languid drums and the arrival of Hasselgren's fragile, low gravity, achingly beautiful vocals. A simple but deadly guitar refrain, matched by a similarly haunting synth counterpart is the icing on this consummately crafted bittersweet single. The pair then momentarily pause for a break to show off the tracks ambient credentials, before Hasselgren's voice floats into the soundscape and the pair unhurriedly conclude this succinct, acoustic trip hop meets haunting alt-pop gem. Let's hope these two have been busy and there's more to come.
