arc rae - New Moon (Mystery Circles)

An LP musing on the cyclical nature of life, its transient nature and submerged behavioural patterns is a tall undertaking, even more so when trying to express those ideas via ambient downtempo means, so fair play to arc rae for even trying, and to a certain extent succeeding.

The restless sound design and jazz tickled production lend a questioning air to proceedings, sounds zipping in and out and buzzing around the soundscape looking for answers and then when they find one inevitably disappearing to raise further questions. But amongst all the restless, questing sonics there’s an ambient weight hovering in the background that adds an air of mystery and shrouds the deepest universal secrets from mortal musical hacking.

Headphones and a quiet room recommended.
