Album cover reading AFRICATOWN, AL. ANCESTOR SOUNDS, showing a smokestack plume over silhouetted trees at dusk.

Thanks to the deep digging Jude Rogers for hipping me to these tales of the Afro American struggle. Live field recordings of spoken, sung & rapped reminiscences from the descendents of the Clotilda - the last ship to bring enslaved people across the Atlantic to America, & some of their neighbours from the Africatown neighbourhood in Alabama are fused in blues rooted, Afrofuturistic experimental fashion with ambient recordings of the surrounding industry, ancient instruments & so much soul. A poignant oral history of bravery, resiliance & American shame.
