LABEL PHILOSOPHY:
Music that sounds familiar, but that we have trouble describing? We're all for it. Music with a timeless quality, made with love, craft, imagination and soul poured into it which will still sound good long after we're in the great listening room in the sky? Yes please.

We are digitally focused for several reasons. Firstly we are concerned about sustainability, consumption and environmental impact so digital makes more sense for most releases, rather than consuming more of the earth's dwindling natural resources, especially with today's fast moving listening habits. We've also heard that digital is quite popular these days. Saying that if we find the right release then we still have a soft spot for the black stuff. Never say never. Except for tapes - never!
10% of all label sales/streaming revenue on digital releases will go to Client Earth to help mitigate our environmental impact.

PUBLISHING/LICENSING
ARTISTS: We can provide professional publishing services with fast, efficient global collections, and are building a growing network of contacts who work in TV, film, advertisting, computer games & visual disciplines who we constantly promote our catalogue to.

LICENSEES: If you would like to licence some of the label's music then don't hesitate to get in touch. Most of the catalogue is one stop licensable, right here, right now - just drop us an email through the contact page or label [at] theslowmusicmovement [dot] org. If you don't know which song you would like then we are always happy to help, just send us your brief. We also always have music that is waiting to be released that is not yet publicly available. We can also offer bespoke music services through our artist roster. Have a listen to the story so far below:

MUSIC SUPERVISION: According to a long serving Apple Music specialist support worker, we have the most organised collection of digital music they've ever seen. Needless to say we've been keeping our eye on the world of music for years and would love to assist anyone who needs a TV show, computer game, VR scenario or film full of great music.

NOTE TO ARTISTS:
No covers, original, non generic compositions without samples of other people's music please. Sure we all have influences and listen to music for inspiration, but we want artists who are keeping their hands off the source and molding those influences in interesting ways, digging deep into their creative pools and surfing their imagination for unique ways to express themselves. You also get extra bonus points if your songs end rather than fade out. :)

Musically we are very open minded, but having  listend to our previous releases, researched our radio show & DJ mixes, followed our social media for a while and read this blog post, you already know that and have a good idea what we are looking for. We're open to offers so if you really think you have something we might be interested in then go for it. Send us a streaming link and bio to this address, but please be realistic about what you are sending. Due to submission overload and time constraints we can only reply if we want to sign you up, sorry about that.

Here are some ideas we would like to make happen:
Cosmic Dubs - Sextant era Herbie Hancock, Tim Buckley & Manuel Gottsching jamming with King Jammy in a smoke filled JA studio shortly after someone had found a box of muscle relaxants down the back of the sofa would create something along this line. Can we have a version as well please.
Balearic Daze - Something sounding like Alice Coltrane, Klaus Schulze and John Martyn sitting on the cliffs of the west coast of Ibiza in the 70's hippy hey day, jamming over the top of early drum machine presets as they serenade the sun setting into the Mediterranean sea would be just perfect, thanks. A DJ friendly edit would also be appreciated.

Horizontology - If Nils Frahm had been kidnapped by Popol Vuh using a time machine and recruited to soundtrack the island of Bali at sunrise in 1967 at Terry Riley's beach front studio, under the guidance of the Maharishi with Timothy Leary serving the drinks you'd be about right.
Chugging & Hugging - Imagine Ali Farka Toure & Syd Barrett are haunting Larry Heard's Studio when Lloyd Miller and Brian Eno pop in after deciding 100-110BPM psychedelic head nodding house music is the key to ending all wars and expanding global consciousness.

Any piece of music that combines all of the above ideas or comes up with something we've never even dreamed of gets extra brownie points. Also If you hadn't noticed we are going for the warmer end of the musical spectrum. We don't mind a bit of moodiness, but we'd prefer to be an antidote to the near dystopian future rather than it's perfect soundtrack.
